Designing a new logo is never an easy task, especially when you're designing a new logo for a sporting team as beloved as the Wollongong NRE Hawks!

The Wollongong NRE Hawks are the only remaining team from the foundation national competition. We decided early in the design process to try to capture the team's inspirational history, to create something that represents the grit and courage of a 100% owned community team.

The new logo design coincides with a launch of the new naming rights sponsor, NRE Gujarat, and gave the Hawks the opportunity to replace the aging (13+ year old) logo with a fresh, modern & appealing image.

Many different logo concepts were provided, but the one that proved most popular was the design that featured a focused and determined Hawk. The lettering of the name has been made more prominent and will allow fans to get into the new logo with flags, banners and shirts.

We wanted to beef up the attitude with the new illustration of the Hawk, so we gave him a don't mess with me expression, spread the wings out and, of course, made sure that ball was being held on tight. Go the Hawks!
